What Shall I Bring To The First Kitchen Consultation?

If you are in the building phase, please bring the floor plans (to scale) of your kitchen space and any other supporting documents, like inspiration images, an idea of the appliances you would like to use in the space, any rough sketches you may have put together of your dream custom kitchen.

If you have an existing kitchen and are looking to remodel/renovate, our team will come to your site to measure the space fully. The same would be required, as above, in terms of inspiration images to guide the designers on your style and likes, as well as your appliances and sizes etc.

Do You Offer Any Other Products Besides Kitchens?

At Cupboard Value, we offer a custom service to design any cabinetry needs that you might need for your home. This includes bathroom vanity designs, custom walk-in closets, home studies, entertainment and bar areas, TV and living room spaces – if you can dream it, we will make it.

Will Your Kitchen Designers Inspire Me For My New Kitchen?

Yes, this is what we are here for and one of the most crucial parts in the kitchen design process. Our kitchen designers at Cupboard Value have over 20 years’ design experience and will be happy to assist and inspire you for your new kitchen. From the kitchen materials and finishes used, to the colours, kitchen layout and kitchen features that are most suitable for your individual kitchen project.

While aesthetics play a role in the overall design, we, at Cupboard Value, place great importance on practical layout and technical workings as well. Should a particular element you desire not be achievable in your particular space, we will advise you accordingly and work to put forward an alternative suggestion.

How Long Does The Design, Production And Delivery Process Take?

This largely depends on the size of your project as well as the information you supply with regards to preference in styles and finishes, in order for us to get the design perfect for you. Production lead time is based on your chosen finishes and door styles – your consultant will advise you accordingly.

Having a clear understanding of what you’re wanting to achieve aesthetically and the parameters of your budget, will always assist in guiding our designers to give you the product and finishes that suit your brief and pocket, in the shortest timeframe as possible.

How Long Does The Kitchen Installation Take?

Depending on the size of your project, typically your kitchen installation will take 3-4 business days for your carcasses to be fitted into place. After the carcass installation, your kitchen countertops can be templated and then usually installed some days later (depending on the selected fabricator’s schedule). The installation of your doors and drawers, handles and other finishing items may sometimes follow should it not have been possible to install with the carcasses due to certain materials etc. For the entire installation process, we caution homeowners to allow 2-3 weeks for the process.

What Are Examples Of Questions You Will Ask Me During Our First Kitchen Consultation?

Typical questions we will ask you throughout our first kitchen consultation could include:

  • How many people live at your home, and how many people usually use your kitchen space at the same time?
  • How do you usually prepare meals and how often per week?
  • Do you have any dietary requirements that need to be catered for (separate preparation area for vegetables and meat products etc)?
  • Do you have children, and if yes, do they do their homework in the kitchen?
  • Is the primary cook in the household left-handed or right-handed?
  • Is anyone in the household handicapped or has special needs?
  • Do you host dinner parties, and if yes how often and for how many people?
  • Do you require a seating area within the kitchen space?
  • Do you bulk buy your groceries that would require additional storage area?
  • Do you recycle requiring more than 1 waste bin?
  • Are there any elements about your existing kitchen that you absolutely hate so that we can find solutions for or avoid incorporating in the design?
  • What appliances do you intend to have?
  • Are you intending on using gas cooking appliances? If so, will the gas bottle be housed internally or externally?
How Many Design Plans Will You Present Me With?

This totally depends on how happy and satisfied you are with your design choices and our design plans and drawings. While some of our clients are happy with the first version we present, others would like to see a second or third plan of your dream custom kitchen design.
